Project Summary

The Villages at Brightleaf is a new 200 home subdivision in Wildwood, MO built by Consort Homes. The new houses range in size from 2200sf up to nearly 3500sf and boast as many as 9 different home models and elevations.

Due to a variety of city regulations, The Villages at Brightleaf was planned as a three (3) phase project beginning in the spring of 2017. As a part of Bloomsdale Excavating’s project management, only one phase could be completed at a time with all future phases on hold until the previous phase(s) were soil stabilized. This meant that determinations of earthwork balances for each phase would be critical to project success. Bloomsdale utilized GPS file building technology and 3D imaging in the field to verify quantities and minimize material handling. City ordinances also prohibited drilling and blasting of rock, in what is known as a very rocky area of west St. Louis County. As such all rock had to be ripped or broke. Lastly, as this new subdivision would be built in close proximity to existing homes and high traffic roadways, dust control and street cleaning were mandatory.

Phase 1 consisted of clearing and grading an initial 30 acres, moving 85,000 cubic yards of material, ripping 30,000 cubic yards of rock and hauling 160,000 cubic yards of material.

Phase II began in the winter of 2017 and was met under a very tight schedule. Bloomsdale Excavating performed clearing and grading of 10 acres, moving 85,000 cubic yards of dozed material and 50,000 cubic yards of hauled material.

The third and final phase of the project consisted of hauling 10,000 cubic yards of material.
