PROJECT: Crestwood Crossing

LOCATION: Crestwood, MO

PROJECT SUMMARY:

Bloomsdale Excavating was contracted for the redevelopment of a St. Louis landmark, the former Crestwood Plaza Mall, which sat on a 47 acre site in Crestwood, MO. The scope of work included site and utility demolition, earthwork, grading, retaining wall excavation and backfill, and site utilities construction.

As with any project which requires working on a previously constructed site, several challenges arose. These included existing building slabs had to be uncovered and broken/removed and existing fill material had to be removed/recompacted, then replaced in order to meet geotechnical requirements. Our project management team had to be strategic on handling the cut/fill material in order to eliminate double handling and meeting geotech requirements. Equally, the site utility schedule was accelerated and not fully developed prior to the time utilities started.
